Professor Kamar Tayo Adeleke

Nigerian-born, US-trained Interventional Cardiologist | Founder & CEO, Tristate Healthcare System. Co-founder and Provost Tristate College of Medicine and Health Sciences

Professor Kamar Tayo Adeleke is a Nigerian-born, US-trained interventional cardiologist whose career bridges continents and transforms lives. He earned his undergraduate degree from Penn State University and his Doctor of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine in 1986.

He completed his medical internship at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. He later served as an attending physician in the Emergency Departments of Crozer Chester Medical Center and Sacred Heart Hospital in Pennsylvania

In 1994, Professor Adeleke returned to Albert Einstein Medical Center for a three-year fellowship training in Cardiovascular Medicine, followed by a one-year fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the same institution which he completed in 1998. He holds board certifications in Internal Medicine (1996) and Cardiovascular Diseases (1998).

An accomplished clinician and entrepreneur, he founded Tristate Cardiovascular Institute in Wilmington, Delaware, as well as First State Diagnostic Center, Peninsula Medical Associates, and Wilmington Cardiovascular Associates.

His work in the United States placed him at the forefront of minimally invasive cardiac procedures, advanced diagnostics, and evidence-based care models.

Driven by a deep commitment to health equity, Professor Adeleke returned to Nigeria to pioneer advanced cardiovascular care. He performed the first cardiac catheterization and interventional procedure at the University College Hospital (UCH) of University of Ibadan. He established the Tristate Healthcare System (THS), which has set up and managed:

  • Tristate Hospital Lekki,
  • Babcock Tristate Heart and Vascular Centre,
  • Tristate Hospital Ibadan
  • Tristate at Reddington Heart Centre,
  • Duchess Tristate Heart Institute, Duchess International Multispecialty Hospital, Lagos
  • Tristate College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Hillside University of Science & Technology

 

He has served as Chair, Division of Cardiology at the Benjamin Carson School of Medicine, Babcock University, where he continues as Professor of Medicine/Cardiology. He is also Provost, Tristate College of Medicine and Health Sciences, Hillside University of Science and Technology, and the President/CEO of Tristate Healthcare System.

Through both Tristate Healthcare System and Tristate Educare, Professor Adeleke has overseen more than 700 open-heart surgeries with a 96% success rate, over 2,000 interventional procedures with 100% success rate and 0% mortality, and multiple capacity-building programs that have trained the next generation of African cardiac specialists.

 

Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud, SAN, OON, FCIArb (UK)

Mr. A. B. Mahmoud, SAN, OON, FCIArb (UK) is a distinguished lawyer, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and Life Bencher of the Body of Benchers. He holds LLB and LLM degrees in Company and Labour Law from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He began his career in the Kano State Ministry of Justice, serving for 15 years and rising to the position of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. In 1993, he co-founded Dikko & Mahmoud, where he is Managing Partner.

Mr. Mahmoud served as the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), where he championed key reforms, and has chaired or participated in several high-level national committees, including the Review of Nigeria’s Code of Corporate Governance. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), a member of the ICC and LCIA, and is listed on the Energy Arbitrators List.

He sits on the Boards of MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, Stanbic IBTC Pension Managers, and the Aliko Dangote Foundation, bringing decades of legal, regulatory, and governance expertise to Nigeria’s leading institutions.

Dr. Babalola Olusola Oluwole, MD, MPH(c)

Dr. Babalola Olusola (Sola) Oluwole, MD, MPH(c), is an accomplished physician, researcher, and healthcare executive with a distinguished career bridging clinical practice, academic research, and hospital leadership across Nigeria and the United States.

He currently serves as Director of Clinical Operations at Tristate Hospital, Lekki, Lagos, where he oversees hospital-wide clinical operations, quality assurance, patient safety, and governance systems.

Prior to this role, Dr. Oluwole was Group Director of Projects and earlier Medical Director at Reddington Hospital Group, where he managed multi-facility operations, developed laboratory services, and spearheaded strategic clinical projects, including hospital expansion and specialty program development.

His academic foundation is equally strong. Dr. Oluwole earned his M.B.B.S. from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, followed by postgraduate training in General Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York, and a Clinical Fellowship in Emergency Medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital. At Yale University School of Medicine, he completed postdoctoral research in vascular surgery, studying endothelial biology and mechanotransduction in vascular smooth muscle. He went on to specialize in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of South Florida (USF), where he also pursued a Master of Science in Public Health.

A committed researcher, Dr. Oluwole has published in leading journals, including The American Journal of Cardiology, Annals of Vascular Surgery, and Journal of Surgical Research. His research interests focus on vascular biology, occupational toxicology, nitric oxide signalling, and the pathogenesis of hand-arm vibration syndrome.

He has received a NIOSH Pilot Grantand presented at major academic forums, including the Association for Academic Surgery and the American Industrial Hygiene Association. Beyond research, Dr. Oluwole has served as a guest instructor at the University of South Florida Collegeof Public Health and contributed to U.S. National Health policy through service on the NIOSH/OSHA Equifax Site Investigation Team and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Grant Review Panel.

With an international career spanning Nigeria, the U.S., and global healthcare networks, Dr. Oluwole combines deep clinical expertise, executive leadership, and academic rigor to advance healthcare delivery, quality, and safety in both developed and resource-constrained settings. He enjoys reading and writing, and is an avid road cyclist.

Olukunle A. Iyanda, FCA, PhD

Dr. Iyanda is an award-winning strategist, governance expert, and organizational transformation leader with over 25 years of experience spanning healthcare, consulting, financial services, and education.

He is the Founder & CEO of BROOT Consulting and Managing Partner of DesignThinkers Group Nigeria, with a proven track record of designing and executing complex institutional reforms.

Formerly Vice President & COO of Tristate Healthcare System, he has led strategic healthcare projects that improved patient outcomes and institutional efficiency. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and the Nigeria Leadership Institute (FNLI)

Dr. Iyanda holds a PhD in Information Systems Management (USA), an MSc in Corporate Governance (UK), and an MBA. His expertise strengthens TEL’s ability to design scalable systems, build institutional capacity, and position its operations for sustainable global impact.
