About us

Our journey, mission, and vision to transform healthcare access and training across Africa and the Caribbean.

Our Story

Compassion, Innovation, Transformation in Healthcare

Tristate Educare (TEL) is an Africa-born, globally connected organization that integrates healthcare delivery, medical education, and research innovation into one transformative movement.

Founded by Professor Kamar T. Adeleke, a Nigerian-born, US-trained cardiologist, our journey began with a simple yet bold vision: Africa deserves the same quality of healthcare and medical education as the most advanced countries in the world.

In 2013, this vision came to life at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, with the first open-heart surgeries in its history. From there, we expanded across Nigeria, launched the Babcock Tristate Heart & Vascular Centre, and most recently, established the Caribbean Tristate Heart Institute in Trinidad and Tobago.

Our Vision

To transform healthcare, education, and research across the Global South by building world-class systems that save lives, empower leaders, and advance health equity

Our Mission

At Tristate Educare, we advance healthcare, education, and research by blending global excellence with local innovation. We deliver world-class care, train capable health leaders, drive impactful research, and build sustainable partnerships that strengthen systems and transform communities.

Our Journey from Vision to Impact

2013

Tristate Cardiovascular Associates partnership with University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, introducing advanced interventional cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery.

Within months, the team performed 42 open-heart surgeries, a first in the hospital’s history.

2015

Establishment of Babcock Tristate Heart & Vascular Centre, equipped with a cath lab, dedicated cardiac OR, 10-bed cardiac ICU, and 160-slice CT scanner.

2018 - 2022

Strategic partnerships, leading to the setting up and managing cardiac programs at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Afe Babalola Multispecialist Hospital, Reddington Hospital, and Duchess International Hospital.

2024

Commenced the training of medical students and postgraduate fellows at Hillside University of Science and Technology through the Tristate College of Medicine and Health Sciences, embedding hands-on clinical exposure into the curriculum.

Our programs have trained dozens of physicians, nurses, and technicians in interventional cardiology, cardiac imaging, intensive care, and emergency response — strengthening the talent pool needed for sustainable cardiac care.

2025

Launched the Caribbean Tristate Heart Institute (CTHI) in Trinidad and Tobago, a facility capable of delivering a full spectrum of interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery at global standards.

CTHI has already performed life-saving procedures for high-risk patients, eliminating the need for expensive overseas referrals.

Our Three Pillars of Impact

Every initiative we lead is anchored on healthcare delivery, medical education, and research innovation.

Healthcare Delivery

We partner with governments, institutions, and private hospitals to design, build, and manage specialized healthcare facilities across Africa and the Caribbean — bringing advanced cardiac care, surgical excellence, and diagnostic services closer to home

Medical Education

Through the Tristate College of Medicine & Health Sciences at the Hillside University of Science & Technology, we are shaping the next generation of African and Caribbean clinicians, ensuring world-class medical education is accessible where it is most needed.

Research & Innovation

We establish collaborative hubs that connect African and Caribbean scientists with global peers, pioneering research in cardiovascular disease, digital health, and AI-driven medical solutions tailored for emerging markets.

Our Approach

At Tristate Educare, we believe that every heartbeat matters. Through our specialized cardiac centres, we have embraced minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery as a standard of care. These techniques not only save lives—they shorten hospital stays, reduce complications, and restore patients to full health faster

Future Outlook

Looking Ahead

The next decade will see Tristate Educare expand across Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia, establishing new centers of excellence, scaling academic programs, and launching multidisciplinary research hubs.

Our 10-year growth plan (2025–2034) includes:

  • Specialized hospitals & cardiac institutes across emerging regions

  • Expanded Tristate College campuses in Africa & the Caribbean

  • AI-enabled diagnostics and digital health platforms

  • Global collaborations publishing cutting-edge medical research
